John Bachman, Letters and Memories of His Life Zenaida Publishing is pleased to announce the re-publication of John Bachman, Letters and Memories of His Life, to coincide with the 150th anniversary of Newberry College and the John Bachman Symposium. Originally published in 1888, John Bachman, Letters and Memories of His Life is a collection of letters, compiled “with great labor and pain” by his grandson, John Bachman Haskell, and interspersed with narrative by John Bachman’s daughter, Catherine Bachman. From Bachman’s youth in Rhinebeck NY through his ministry of 56+ years at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charleston SC, John Bachman, Letters and Memories of His Life traces Bachman’s study of natural history and his friendship with John James Audubon and the union between their families. The biography is an intimate portrait of a tireless renaissance man who survived illness and overcame family tragedies to found Newberry College and co-author with John James Audubon a monumental work on The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America. Zenaida Publishing is pleased to offer John Bachman, Letters and Memories of His Life at a reduced price to those attending the John Bachman Symposium. Zenaida Publishing publishes important, rare, out-of-print books relating to John James Audubon and associated subjects.
